Celebrates 25 Years’ Trade by Saying Thank You
By Poul Krarup
Arctic Import marks anniversary by collecting money to charitable purposes in Greenland.
After 25 years’ trade with the society in Greenland the company Arctic Import uses the anniversary to reciprocate for the confidence. "We want to say thank you to the society in Greenland”, says Mr Gunnar Laursen, manager.
Therefore Arctic Import marks its 25th anniversary on 25th September with an informal reception in Nuuk. On this occasion intended gifts are encouraged in form of presents of money which later will be passed on uncut to charitable purposes in Greenland, Mr Gunnar Laursen says.
The first 50,000
Earlier this month the company celebrated their anniversary at the office in Nørresundby. Here the request to the guests was the same. The result was Dkr. 50,000 which well over 300 guests brought along. As mentioned the whole amount goes to charitable purposes. For which purpose will only be revealed when Arctic Import holds the anniversary reception in Nuuk.
"The decision has been taken from one of Arctic Import’s set of values “we care”, which means that Arctic Import respects local values and attitudes in the markets where the company has customers”, explains Mr Gunnar Laursen.
Gazelle-company
Having reached a considerable turnover in the last few years Arctic Import has been nominated a Gazelle company in 1999, 2000 and 2001 in the analysis of the fastest growing companies in Denmark (including the self-governing dependencies) carried out by the business newspaper Børsen.
"Among others we can thank the society in Greenland for this. Therefore we want to use the anniversary to reciprocate for the confidence”, the manager explains.
Arctic Import Ltd. was founded in Nuuk in 1978 where it delivered products and solutions to tradesmen. Later on Arctic Import established their office and head office in Nørresundby which has been extended further a couple of times. In 1999 the company started a department in the Faroe Islands. Furthermore, the company has extended in Nuuk.
Hopes for 100,000
"Thanks to the many good and loyal customers we have been able to develop into a competent partner in trade securing our customers an easy, clear and safe trade. A development which has given Arctic Import a solid foothold in the society in Greenland today", says Mr Gunnar Laursen.
According to the daily newspaper Nordjyske Stiftstidende Mr Gunnar Laursen, managing director, expects that at the anniversary in Nuuk there will be around 300 guests too with equally large presents of money so that a donation of around Dkr. 100.000 is not unrealistic.
